At the end of a rather muddy walk through woodland and with the sound of running water we paused, and waited quietly.
For me the sound of the stream stopped and I entered very easily into a place of quiet in God’s presence. It was beautiful. We were standing at the site of an ancient Keeill where many had sought God over the years. It was easy, somehow the place was ‘thin’ and the presence of God felt.
We then ventured on to an incredible waterfall which, following a season of downpour was full and vigorous. I rather flippantly said, ‘Anyone for a dip?’ Mainly because I really wanted to plunge into the pool of deep cristal clear water.
One of my companions heard the invitation and taking me at my at my word – actually stripped off and plunged in! I mean, it’s the middle of winter! But whatever – nothing was going to stop him. We stood watching. It was such a powerful image that I started to see in the spiritual. And this is what came to me –
‘Who is prepared to risk all and jump into the mighty outpouring of God’s power?’
Will we? Or will we stand on the sidelines wondering what the consequences will be? The fear of being wet! Or of being out of our depth? But this man did – he went for it. And he was totally invigorated.
I want to be that man!
We are entering a season of exceleration and God is pouring out His mighty power to equip us for the great harvesting of souls. We each have an area of expertise or gifting for such a purpose but are we prepared to risk all to get involved or will we stand on the sidelines in fear and doubt? That is the challenge.
I pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else—not only in this world but also in the world to come. Ephesians 1:19-23
